The 17 March 2011 is the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification (bits and pieces were still missing, but generally speaking this was it…).

A National festivity, as it has been recently declared.

Sorry, folks, but there’s not much to be happy about: let’s just think about the indignity of the country’s political leaders, the corruption of its entrepreneurs, the obscure and disgraceful (for Southern Italy) robber baron dynasty originating it…

Of course, there were people who believed in unity, and fought, and gave their blood for it. This is to be highly respected, no doubt about that.

But let me sing out of the choir, for a while: here you have the anthem of the House of Habsburg, once ruling (pretty well, by the way) over northern Italy…
