This is what’s going on in northern Italy. The first big earthquake was registered on the 20th May 2012. Another big one this morning.
I just felt my house shaking again just 10mins ago!!!!
Having a full documentation of historical buildings and monuments affected by the earthquake would be crucial in order to set up priorities for cultural heritage risk assessment and intervention.
I think that even just a georeferenced smartphone photo would do - you could tag it as #earthquakeitalymay2012 for instance, or anything like that, and post it to Panoramio, or to Flickr. This might be very useful, both as a knowledge base for immediate action, and as a documentation for later on…
